Project description:

The country is still suffering from instability and order has not been restored to date. Wars and conflicts have ravaged the nation. Many refugees do not return to their native villages until years later, even now.

Many Sudanese have grown up during this period and have never attended school. LIFE FOR ALL is supporting 53 primary schools at present. A total of 12,000 pupils are receiving food and study materials. LIFE FOR ALL has been involved in building twelve schools and a training centre for young women. A teacher training centre, which we built, has trained 400 primary school teachers since 1998.

In southern Sudan it is the women who are mainly responsible for looking after their families. LIFE FOR ALL helps them to earn a better living. Each year around 60 young women complete a seamstress apprenticeship. So far 580 women have successfully completed this training course for small enterprises, which entitles them to claim our microcredits.

Sustainability is also important in agriculture for a self-reliant life. Apart from24 school gardens, we have 13 demonstration farms where 570 farmers have been so far been taught efficient methods of cultivation, how to store the harvest and ploughing with oxen.
