Rehabilitation
In the western world rehabilitation is defined as reintegrating a fellow human being into his/her social environment after a period of imprisonment.
For our purposes, its primary objective is to provide relief in specific circumstances such as war, natural disasters or social injustices. This responsibility covers concepts such as food security in affected areas, reconstruction after a natural disaster and building a sustainable future.
Many people still struggle to survive each day. The starting point for food security is acute starvation. It is, however, important to teach people to take responsibility for feeding themselves. Training and education play an important role in creating a secure future.
Rapid financial assistance is necessary to deal with the immediate aftermath of a natural or man-made disaster. Another major task involves reconstructing whole villages with their entire eco-social systems. Training as well as physical and psychological support enable people to shape their own future.
